Big City Life

Ok today we saw a different side of Uganda. We went to the capital city center and went shopping. We went to 3 places that sold african goods for tourists. The items were so cheap if you look at how much work goes into them - lots of beautiful wood work, soap stone carving, batik paiting, and lots of jewelry. We helped the economy greatly!
Then we went to a mall that was more like what we have in the states. They had a WoolWorth department store, appliances, sporting goods ... It made me feel a little better that there is an upper class and a middle class group here. There was also a grocery store similar to American stores. I'm glad not EVERYBODY is buying there food off the streets and living day by day.

  3. Anne,
I've enjoyed reading all of your journals and getting a little taste of Africa through your writing. Your photos are interesting too. Keep the posts coming!
